Diversions

I spend a great deal of time in a dialysis unit. I've the kind of mind that is constantly and simultaneously wrestling with a variety of projects. Creating computer games is one of the projects that passes the time. I can't see well enough to actually play such games, but scribbling computer code and sketches on scraps of paper keeps me occupied. Later when there's a bit of free time I'll see if these notes might actually work into something tangible. Here are some examples of such projects that have.

For the curious, here are a few examples you can download for free!

HauntQuest

Hauntquest was my very first computer game, created for a now defunct Haunted Attraction as a cool free promo. It's a simple game, but not without its challenges. The musical score was composed by M Aaron Young B especially for this game!

Stick Figure Heroes #1 is the demo version of a cute lil' project of mine. This first one is a fantasy story with "wizerds" and werebeasts, "gobluns", and other things you'd expect in such an environment. I like its simplistic hand-drawn feeling. So Why Stick Figures? There's something really great about being able to convey the emotion and drama of The Whole Big Thing that is Life with the economy of lines that is Stick Figure art. It distills the very crucial elements of your story into a kind of visual shorthand which can be a neat little exercise for any artist. It's also a nice break from some of the more detail oriented work I usually do, and I just have a thing about lines. In the early '90s I had a small line of stick figure icon bookmarks at a farmers/crafters market and around the same time I also worked up kind of an elaborate stick figure logo for a band. There's just something about me and stick figures. I really dig that this latest incarnation of my stick figures can run around doing things -it's like they've got their own little lives!
